Most Beautiful Waterfalls on the Blue Ridge Parkway
Waterfalls along the Blue Ridge Parkway range from ancient & massive drops to small rivulets that only exist after a heavy rain. Tall and thunderous falls are forces of nature that pound down cliffsides, and small, gentle drops are laced among the falling creeks and streams.
Surrounding each of the falls, a visitor may find lush summer oaks, resplendent autumn color, shining winter icicles, or abundant spring wildflowers. At the foot of many larger falls, chilly & clear mountain waters collect into natural swimming holes. A patient observer may see wildflife drinking from the stiller waters, and anglers can fish for the trout that lurk beneath the surface.
To see a mountain waterfall, a traveler may only have to step out of their car at an overlook; other falls are hidden in the backcountry and can only been seen by the most dedicated explorer. Use the list and resources below to find whatever type of fall you are seeking. Bring your camera and take a picture, but put your camera down before you leave and take a breath; any Parkway traveler will tell you that there is an elusive & distinct quality to each of the falls that can only be experienced in person.
